UPDATE FRIDAY 13TH SEPTEMBER 2019 (9378)

In view of the increases in maximum speeds achieved already this season, discussions are now in progress concerning whether all future On Water Testing should be carried out at the foreign location, where more space is available. The logistics of this possible change are complex, and will be aired at the Forum during our Members Event in October.

UPDATE FRIDAY 13 DECEMBER 2019

As the last Test Programme of 2019 concludes and the Team prepare to return to the UK for a much deserved Christmas and New Year break, both Boats are beginning a Deep Overhaul and Type 3 Refit at the winter location. The Boats will then be treated to a new livery in a camouflaged style which is designed to obscure the aerodynamic components. The next Test begins on 7th January 2020. In the meantime, a new 120 minute film about the Fastest Boat Project will premiere on the Members' Website on Monday 23rd December 2019.

UPDATE FRIDAY 14 FEBRUARY 2020  (9765)

The outstanding performance of Boat 3 during recent Winter Testing culminated this week in a record time for a one way run. This does not of course count as any form of official record, but is a very encouraging sign for the approaching season.

Bookings for the April Members' Event in Florida are now at over 80% of the venue capacity, so early action is recommended for any Members who are still making a decision. All of the hotel deals are still available as previously advised.

From Sunday 16th February our Website will host a new 2 hour documentary of the entire 3 years of the Fastest Boat project. This is recommended for Members who have not been with us from Day One.

UPDATE FRIDAY 21 FEBRUARY 2020 (9779)

The major updates to the electronics packages were flown out of the UK today, and will be installed in both Boats within the next three days. The last major session of Winter Testing will begin on 2nd March, and last two weeks. Weather forecasts are positive.

A new venue for the Summer Testing is being sought, and it is hoped that this will have been finalised by the Members' Event in the USA in April. It is becoming likely that this new location will be considered for the Record Setting sessions in 2021, but this will depend on many factors, especially the needs of the Name Sponsor.

The Team is now well advanced in setting up an additional professional Atelier in the USA, and a site has been purchased. Preliminary details of the design will be released to our Members at Easter. The new project includes extensive workshops, laboratories and a 3000 square foot exhibition area. There will also be a multipurpose space which can be used for entertaining (with dining for 140 Guests), or for presentations, as a private cinema, or as a photography and filming studio. The Team has now purchased two Arri Alexa cameras and first results from these have been exceptionally good.

The prototype block model for the 'Hero Ship' in the QL Series is now being photographed, and images will be uploaded onto the Members' Website on 24th February. It is envisaged that the filming 'miniature' for this vessel will be approximately 40 feet long, and necessarily of modular construction. It has not yet been decided where QL will be produced, but the UK should be awarded the contract this autumn if the current negotiations are successful.

UPDATE FRIDAY 28 FEBRUARY 2020 (9784)

Preparations on site are beginning today for the next session of testing, which starts on 2nd March. The two Boats will begin their runs with comparative tests of the new fuel, to establish whether this improves on the characteristics of the previous blend.

Meanwhile, in London, work is now complete on the design of the setting for the April Members' Event to be held in Florida, and the model for this project can now be viewed on the Website. Also on display is the new miniature for the latest Miami project, which was greenlit this week.

All the seats for the Formal Dinner at the Event are now reserved, but a Waiting List is being maintained. The remainder of the Event activities are available for all our Registered Members to enjoy, provided that they have taken the necessary steps to Register in advance.

UPDATE FRIDAY 6 MARCH 2020 (9787)

As Members will have seen on our daily video updates this week, work is going well as the Boats prepare for their final week of Winter Testing. Minor problems with the fuel systems have been remedied, and only 2 hours of running time were lost. This weekend will be a break for most of the Team, before another 6 days of Tests run up to Saturday 14th March. Then the transporting of all the equipment will begin to London, while the Boats head for Florida and the Members' Event there.

The Members' Event Formal Dinner is now fully booked, but there is a waiting list on the Website.

In a week where the FlyBe Airline and the Bloodhound Project have encountered financial problems, we can assure Members that our Name Sponsor has guaranteed that spending for the  Fastest Boat for 2020 and 2021 has been guaranteed. Furthermore, as the project prepares for a public launch, four supplementary sponsors have already joined us, and two more plan to follow suit by April. If so, the livery of the Name Sponsor will be supplemented by these additional benefactors by the time the Boats are unveiled in Florida.

Members should check our Website daily for updates on all our projects because much is happening at the moment.
